Catheline et al., App. Phys. Lett. (2013)

This article presents numerically and experimentally the faisability of doing wavelength tomography from measurement sampled with a frequency rate well below the Shannon criteria. Fig.1 presents a numerical simulation: an elastic shear wave is emitted in a reverberant cavity having three inclusions of different shear wave speeds. In Fig.2 is compared two down sampled (25 Hz) reconstruction techniques (see middle and bottom panels) with the classical wave speed tomography sampled at 1000 Hz (top panels). An experimental demonstration is then realized using passive elastography technique with a conventional scanner working at 25 Hz to image the thyroid of a volunteer (see Fig.3). This study paved the way to the use of elastography with conventional slow imaging devices.
